About Muddy Roots!

Nestled among the trees and winding trails, Muddy Root's nature summer camp dedicated to outdoor exploration, environmental education, and fun! Our mission is to foster curiosity, confidence, and connection with the natural world in every camper.

Position Summary

Muddy Roots is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and nature-loving individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors. As a counselor, you will lead groups of campers (ages 4-10) through daily activities such as hiking, crafts, nature, critters, team building experiences. You’ll serve as a role model, mentor, and leader while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and fun environment.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and engage a group of 8–10 campers throughout the day
Lead and assist with nature-based activities including hiking, wildlife observation, and crafts
Promote environmental stewardship and outdoor ethics
Foster a positive and respectful group dynamic among campers
Ensure camper safety by following all camp policies and procedures
Provide first aid and respond to emergencies when necessary (training provided)
Communicate regularly with camp leadership and parents when needed
Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older
Prior experience working with children (camp, school, tutoring, etc.) is highly preferred
A genuine love of nature and the outdoors
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain
Must pass a background check
