Location: Muddy Roots Forest School
Program Type: Homeschool Enrichment Program
Hours: 8:30 AM – 2:45 PM, Monday-Thursday
Age Groups: 3–5 years or 6–9 years
Class Segment Duration: 20-40 minutes
Additional Commitment: 4 quarterly evening socials (approx. 2 hours each)
About Us
Muddy Roots Forest School is a nature-based homeschool enrichment program where children explore, discover, and grow through outdoor play, connection, and hands-on learning. We believe that kids thrive when given freedom in nature with the right balance of guidance, boundaries, and encouragement.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a caring, energetic, and responsible Forest School Teacher to join our team one day a week. You’ll lead a short class for either our 3–5 or 6–9 age group and support the flow of the day with love, presence, and accountability. This is more than a teaching role—it’s a chance to help build a nurturing community where children feel safe, seen, and inspired to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a 20-40-minute segment each week using the curriculum provided (you bring it to life through your unique presence, creativity, and connection).
Supervise and engage with students throughout the school day (9a–2:30p), both during structured and unstructured times.
Maintain a clean and organized environment, including:
Tidying the schoolhouse at the end of the day
Setting up the water cooler
Trying to identifying lost and found
Cleaning the compost toilet
Assisting students with bathroom needs if required
Digging for worms or exploring for toads
Making flower crowns
Set and reinforce healthy boundaries and model respectful behavior.
Foster a warm, encouraging, and responsive relationship with all students.
Attend 4 quarterly evening socials setup and breakdown (approx. 3 hours each, on weeknights) to support community connection.
Qualifications
Experience working with children in outdoor, homeschool, or alternative education settings
Love for nature-based learning and child-led exploration
Willingness to get muddy, silly, and fully present with kids
Comfortable with light cleaning and hygiene-related tasks
Reliable, communicative, and team-oriented
Bonus If You Have
Forest School or outdoor education training
Background in early childhood or elementary education
CPR/First Aid certification
